User license model (rental model)

On 19 November 2024, we introduced a new license model for our software products PV*SOL premium, PV*SOL, T*SOL and GeoT*SOL (download here). The increased demand from our customers for a flexible way of working has led us to switch from the current device-bound to a modern, user-based license model.

Your advantages
You now obtain user-based licenses, meaning one license per user that can be used on any number of devices, as long as this does not happen at the same time. With the new license, you receive all program and database updates and can always use the latest features. Additionally, you can now select between two licensing periods: One year or three months. As a License User, you can easily sign in to the desktop application after a one-time registration. In the new License Manager role, you can manage all new user licenses independently in the Valentin License Portal.

What will change for you?
If you are already a customer with us, you can continue to use the licenses you purchased as part of the perpetual model indefinitely. However, from October 1, 2024, we will no longer offer maintenance renewals. Would you like to continue receiving updates after your maintenance has expired? Then you can obtain a new user license for PV*SOL premium, PV*SOL, T*SOL or GeoT*SOL from us.

General Questions

1Why are you introducing a new license model?
With the new license model, we are responding to our customers' increased demand for a flexible way of working. By offering user-based licenses, we enable you to work independently of specific devices and over flexible periods of time.
2What services does the new license model include?
The new license model includes one license per user for a limited period of time that can be used on any number of devices, as long as this does not happen at the same time. With an active user license, you have access to the latest software version, receive all program and database updates and have access to our technical support via e-mail and telephone.
3Can I continue to use my software without switching to the new user license model?
Yes, you can use the perpetual licenses acquired before 19 November 2024 indefinitely. However, when your software maintenance term expires, you will no longer be offered new program and database updates. You then have the option of switching to the new user license model which includes all updates.
4I still have software maintenance. Do I continue receiving regular updates?
You can use your existing maintenance until it expires. If you would like to continue receiving updates after the end of your maintenance term, you can switch to the new license model.
5My software maintenance has been cancelled. What are the consequences for me?
From September 2024, we have started to terminate existing maintenance contracts. You can use the perpetual license acquired before 19 November 2024 indefinetely and you will be offered regular program and database updates until the end of your maintenance term. If you would like to continue receiving updates after the end of your maintenance term, you can switch to the new license model.
6Is the software with the user-based license model a cloud solution?
With the new user-based license model, you can download and install your software as usual via our download page (it’s not cloud software).
What's new is that you have to sign in to use the software and be online to do so. Your advantage with the user-based license is that you can use the software on any number of devices - as long as this does not happen at the same time.
 

 

Registration and License Management

1What are License Managers and License Users?
Our new license model provides for two different roles: License Manager and License User. License Managers are responsible for independently managing your company's new user licenses in the Valentin License Portal and assigning them to License Users. Your company needs at least one License Manager. License Users use the licenses assigned to them to activate and work with their software. Your company can have multiple License Users.
2What is the Valentin License Portal?
The Valentin License Portal is an online portal in which License Managers can independently manage their company's new user licenses and assign them to their License Users. License Users do not have access to the portal.
3Do I have to register to use the software?
Yes. The new license model requires both License Managers and License Users to register once in order to manage or use their licenses. To register, both License Managers and License Users need an e-mail address and a password. Registration is only possible after you have received an invitation e-mail from us.
4How does the management of my new user licenses work?
License Managers can manage all new user licenses independently in the Valentin License Portal.

5I only want to obtain a single license. Can I perform the role of License Manager and License User at the same time?
Yes. One person can perform the role of License Manager and License User at the same time. If you obtain exactly one license for your company, the e-mail address you enter will be preset for both the License Manager and License User roles and you can work with it immediately after delivery and registration in the program. License management in the Valentin License Portal is optional for you.

1How much does a new user license cost?
Our prices are as follows (one-year license / 3-month license):
PV*SOL Premium: €845,00 / €285,00 (plus VAT)
PV*SOL: €585,00 / €195,00 (plus VAT)
T*SOL: €485,00 / €165,00 (plus VAT)
GeoT*SOL: €385,00 / €135,00 (plus VAT)

2What periods are available for the new license?
We offer two license periods: One year or three months.
3Are there still volume and promotional discounts?
Yes, if you purchase or renew at least two licenses of the same program in a single order, you will receive a volume discount on the list price. The licensing period of the licenses does not have to be the same. The following discounts apply:

2-4 licenses: 5%
5-9 licenses: 10%
10-14 licenses: 15%
15+ licenses: 20%

Please note that the volume discount does not apply to resellers. We plan to continue offering promotional discounts at trade shows and events.
4What ordering options are available?
You can place your order either by e-mail or via our shop. The prices listed in the shop apply to both ordering methods.

How to order by email:
1. Send us your request for a written quote.
2. Confirm the quote informally and provide us with the email address of your license manager. Please do not make any payment at this stage.
3. We usually process your order within one business day. You will then receive our order confirmation / invoice. When making the payment, please include the order or invoice number. Proof of payment is not required.
4. Once payment has been received, we will send you the access credentials for the software along with the invoice.
5Can I still extend my software maintenance?
No, the software maintenance for a perpetual license cannot be extended from October 1, 2024. However, all program and database updates are included in our user-based licenses.
